Women's Income-Generating Activities and Gender Roles in Rural Households in Mayo Danay Division, Northern Cameroon

In sub-Saharan Africa, women participate in the rural labor market where they are present subsistence agro-pastoral activities, which more domestic work and, other income-generating activities such as trading. Within studies carried out on women’s status communities, those women's access to certain contexts Ghanaian urban areas, have revealed that, contribute a redistribution of gender roles households. This paper by questioning impacts economic relations within households areas Northern Cameroon, aims analyse realities faced involved particular area assess if changes mentioned above happened all communities. The data used for this empirical from qualitative survey 48 living 8 villages Mayo Danay, an administrative territory Cameroon. results reveal that both breadwinners and workers. Contrary what was observed Ghana, female does not emancipation women. Indeed, even with their means production, still dependent men alone bear burden work. Access participation household expenditures surely reduced poverty but contributed changes.
